Medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve (Medial cutaneous nerve of forearm)
Nervus cutaneus antebrachii medialis
- Origin
- Arises from the medial cord of the brachial plexus (C8–T1)
- Insertion
- Descends the medial arm, pierces the deep fascia with the basilic vein, and divides into anterior and ulnar branches supplying the medial forearm
- Function
- Pure sensory innervation to the skin of the anterior and posterior medial forearm down to the wrist
- Innervation
- Pure sensory nerve (C8–T1)
- Movement & chain
- Subcutaneous course intimately related to the basilic vein
- Palpation
- Sensory testing along the medial border of the forearm
- Clinical
- Susceptible to iatrogenic injury during basilic vein cutdown, cubital tunnel surgery, and medial elbow arthrotomy causing painful neuromas
- Segmental innervation
- C8–T1 spinal segments

- Protected during ulnar nerve transposition, medial epicondylectomy, and ultrasound-guided PICC placement
