Common interosseous artery
Arteria interossea communis
- Origin
- Short trunk arising from the ulnar artery just distal to the radial tuberosity
- Insertion
- Passes to the superior border of the interosseous membrane and divides into anterior and posterior interosseous arteries
- Function
- Primary arterial feeder to the deep forearm musculature, radius, ulna, and interosseous membrane
- Innervation
- Sympathetic perivascular plexus
- Movement & chain
- Anchored firmly against the proximal interosseous membrane
- Palpation
- Not palpably accessible due to deep muscular coverage
- Clinical
- Critical territory involved in acute forearm compartment syndrome requiring emergent fasciotomy
- Segmental innervation
- C7–T1 segments
