- Arise from left lobar bronchi
- Insertion
- Supply the autonomous bronchopulmonary segments (apicoposterior B1+2, anterior B3, superior lingular B4, inferior lingular B5, superior B6, medial basal B7, anterior basal B8, lateral basal B9, posterior basal B10)
- Function
- Conduct air to anatomically and surgically independent bronchopulmonary segments
- Innervation
- Pulmonary plexus
- Movement & chain
- Bronchodilation mediated by beta-2 adrenergic receptors; bronchoconstriction via muscarinic M3 receptors
- Palpation
- Auscultation for focal segmental adventitious sounds (crackles, wheezing)

- Segmental pneumonia, bronchiectasis, anatomic lung segmentectomy in thoracic oncology.
