Pelvis renalis (Pyelos)
- Origin
- Funnel-shaped structure within the renal sinus formed by the convergence of major calyces
- Insertion
- Exits the renal hilum to continue as the ureter at the ureteropelvic junction (UPJ)
- Function
- Acts as a conduit collecting urine from the renal pyramids and propelling it into the ureter via pacemaker-driven peristaltic waves
