- Origin
- Arise from the deep palmar arch and palmar metacarpal arteries
- Insertion
- Pass dorsally through the proximal interosseous spaces to join the dorsal metacarpal arteries
- Function
- Provide vital collateral communications between deep palmar and dorsal arterial systems of the hand
- Innervation
- Sympathetic vasomotor fibers
- Movement & chain
- Traverse the intermetacarpal spaces through interosseous muscles
- Palpation
- Not palpable through deep muscular planes
- Clinical
- Crucial collateral channels preserving dorsal hand perfusion in severe trauma
- Segmental innervation
- C7–T1 roots

- Preserved during interosseous compartment releases and dorsal hand debridement
