Venae tributariae saphenae (arcus posterior)

- Superficial tributary network on the medial and posterior calf including the posterior arch vein
- Insertion
- Drain into the great saphenous vein, receiving Cockett's perforators
- Function
- Collect superficial venous return from the calf skin and subcutaneous fat
- Innervation
- Sympathetic vasomotor fibers
- Movement & chain
- Subcutaneous course vulnerable to gravitational hypertension
- Palpation
- Prominently visible and palpable as tortuous varicose veins
- Clinical
- Primary location of tributary varicose veins, superficial phlebitis, and lipodermatosclerosis along Leonardo's line
