- Arise from the peripatellar and suprapatellar venous plexus
- Insertion
- Accompany the superior genicular arteries to drain into the popliteal vein
- Function
- Deep venous drainage of the superior knee joint capsule and distal femur
- Innervation
- Sympathetic vasomotor fibers

- Accommodates suprapatellar pouch expansion in knee effusion

- Engorged in chronic inflammatory synovitis and hemarthrosis post-arthroscopy
- Segmental innervation
- Deep popliteal venous drainage
