- Origin
- Arise from the distal radial and ulnar arteries near the distal border of pronator quadratus
- Insertion
- Form an anastomotic network across the anterior capsule and carpal bones
- Function
- Supplies the anterior carpal ligaments, volar periosteum, and wrist joint capsule
- Innervation
- Sympathetic vasomotor fibers
- Movement & chain
- Apposed to the anterior fibrous capsule beneath deep flexor tendons
- Palpation
- Not palpable through deep flexor mass
- Clinical
- Contributes to the vascularity of the proximal and distal carpal rows
- Segmental innervation
- C7–C8 segments
- In clinical practice
- Preserved during anterior volar approach to the distal radius (Henry approach)
