Origin

Lateral side of the tuberosity of the ulna

Insertion

Radius directly distal to radial tuberosity (slanted distolaterally)

Function

Resists distally directed traction forces applied to the radius, complementing the interosseous membrane

Innervation

Anterior interosseous nerve (C6–C7)

Movement & chain

Tensioned in full supination and distraction loading

Palpation

Deep structure, non-palpable

Clinical

Disrupted in Essex-Lopresti fracture-dislocations (longitudinal radioulnar dissociation).
