Arteriae lumbales (I-IV)
- Origin
- Four pairs of parietal arteries originating from the posterior wall of the abdominal aorta opposite L1-L4
- Insertion
- Course laterally behind the psoas major and quadratus lumborum into the abdominal wall musculature, giving spinal and muscular branches
- Function
- Supplies the posterior abdominal wall musculature, lumbar vertebrae, cauda equina, and lumbar meninges
- Innervation
- Lumbar sympathetic chain

- Most common source of type II endoleaks following endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) through retrograde flow, spontaneous retroperitoneal hematoma.
