Trunk vessels (aorta, vena cava, abdominal branches)
Intrarenal veins
Venae intrarenales (interlobulares, arcuatae, interlobares)
- Origin
- Arise from peritubular capillaries, stellate venules, and vasa recta in the renal parenchyma
- Insertion
- Drain via cortical radiate (interlobular) veins into arcuate and interlobar veins, coalescing at the hilum into the renal vein
- Function
- Collects venous outflow from the filtration and reabsorption machinery of the nephrons
- Innervation
- Renal plexus
- Movement & chain
- Low-pressure parenchymal drainage
- Palpation
- Not palpated directly
- Clinical
- Renal venous congestion in right heart failure causing reduced GFR (cardiorenal syndrome).
- Segmental innervation
- T10-L1 spinal levels
- In clinical practice
- Venous Doppler waveform analysis in cardiorenal syndrome, tracking decongestion therapy
- Region in the model
- Trunk vessels (aorta, vena cava, abdominal branches)
