Radialis indicis artery
Arteria radialis indicis
- Origin
- Arises from the radial artery near the princeps pollicis or via a common trunk
- Insertion
- Passes along the radial (lateral) side of the index finger to the distal phalanx
- Function
- Supplies the radial side of the index finger and first web space tissues
- Innervation
- Sympathetic vasomotor fibers
- Movement & chain
- Accommodates index finger flexion and extension
- Palpation
- Palpable along the lateral border of the index proximal phalanx
- Clinical
- Frequently utilized as a pedicle for neurovascular island flaps to reconstruct thumb tip amputations (Littler flap)
- Segmental innervation
