Circumflex scapular artery
Arteria circumflexa scapulae

- Branch of the subscapular artery
- Insertion
- Curves through the triangular space into the infraspinous fossa to anastomose with suprascapular and dorsal scapular arteries
- Function
- Key contributor to the rich peri-scapular anastomotic network on the dorsal surface of the scapula
- Innervation
- Sympathetic perivascular nerves
- Movement & chain
- Passes through the triangular axillary space during scapular rotation
- Palpation
- Not palpable through deep scapular musculature
- Clinical
- Permits retrograde upper extremity perfusion if the axillary artery is ligated proximal to subscapularis
