Lower limb
Adductor brevis
Musculus adductor brevis
- Origin
- Body and inferior ramus of the pubic bone
- Insertion
- Pectineal line and proximal linea aspera of the femur
- Function
- Adduction of the hip, assists hip flexion
- Innervation
- Obturator nerve (anterior branch), L2-L4
- Movement & chain
- Works together with adductor longus and adductor magnus in the adductor chain, important for stabilizing the pelvis during single-leg stance and in change-of-direction movements such as push-off in skating or sprinting.
- Palpation
- Deeply located in the proximal medial thigh beneath pectineus and adductor longus; palpated indirectly during resisted adduction.
- Clinical
- Adductor tendinopathy / athletic groin pain in sports involving rapid direction changes and kicking; spasticity in cerebral palsy.
- Segmental innervation
- L2–L4 (obturator nerve)
- In clinical practice
- Skin and pressure point inspection; maintain comfortable positioning and proper body mechanics during patient handling and daily care.
- Region in the model
- Lower limb
