- How to find it
- Lies between its two neighbours, proximal to the second metatarsal. It projects less far distally than they do, creating a recess into which that ray is set.
- What you use it for
- That recess makes the second metatarsal the keystone of the transverse arch. It is exactly there that the midfoot fails in a Lisfranc injury.
