Bony margins of talus, navicular, cuboid, and three cuneiforms

Insertion

Connecting midtarsal and tarsometatarsal articulations

Function

Transforms the midfoot dynamically from a shock-absorbing mobile adapter at heel strike into a rigid lever for propulsion at toe-off

Innervation

Deep fibular, medial, and lateral plantar nerves (L4–S1)

Movement & chain

Coordinated midfoot locking and unlocking during the gait cycle

Palpation

Palpable across dorsal midfoot bridge

Clinical

Lisfranc ligament complex injury (instability between medial cuneiform and 2nd metatarsal base); midtarsal (Chopart) sprain; tarsal coalition.
