Pubofemoral ligament

Ligamentum pubofemorale

Origin

Superior pubic ramus, obturator crest, and pectineal surface

Insertion

Inferior aspect of femoral neck, blending with iliofemoral ligament and capsule

Function

Reinforces the inferomedial hip capsule, restricting excessive hip abduction and external rotation

Innervation

Obturator nerve (L2–L4)

Movement & chain

Tightens during hip abduction, extension, and external rotation

Palpation

Deep inferomedial groin, non-palpable

Clinical

Strain during forced abduction/splits injury; contributes to hip capsular restriction in adductor tightness.
