Tibial plateau
Facies articularis superior tibiae
- How to find it
- Place your fingers in the hollows on either side of the patellar ligament and press distally until you feel the upper rim of the tibia. Follow that rim medially and laterally to the collateral ligaments.
- What you use it for
- The rim of the plateau is the joint line. Tenderness over part of its course belongs to meniscal injury; a depression fracture of the lateral plateau occurs after a valgus trauma.
