Linea nuchae superior
- How to find it
- First find the external occipital protuberance in the midline of the occiput and sweep laterally from it, towards the mastoid process. You then follow a faint bony ridge; have the head press gently back against your hand and trapezius tightens beneath it.
- What you use it for
- Attachment of trapezius, sternocleidomastoid and splenius capitis. The whole line is tender in cervicogenic headache and with prolonged forward head posture.
