Shoulder
Sternal end of the clavicle
Extremitas sternalis claviculae
- How to find it
- Move a centimetre laterally from the jugular notch: there you feel a clear thickening of the clavicle. Have the shoulder shrug and drop, and that part moves clearly under your finger.
- What you use it for
- The only true joint between arm and trunk. Swelling here after a fall may be a dislocation; a posterior dislocation is rare but threatens the great vessels and is an emergency.
