Hip
Single adductor test
- What you examine
- Distinguishing left from right adductors in groin pain.
- Procedure
- Supine, one leg extended. Have the patient adduct that leg against your resistance while the other leg stays relaxed.
- Positive when
- Recognisable pain or loss of force on the tested side.
- What the test is worth
- Complements the squeeze test, which loads both sides at once and therefore cannot say which side is the problem.
- Caution
- In symphyseal problems the other side usually joins in. Pain on both sides argues more for the symphysis than for an adductor injury.
- Joint
- Hip joint
- Body region
