Shoulder
Cross-body adduction test
Horizontal adduction test
- What you examine
- Disorder of the acromioclavicular joint.
- Procedure
- Bring the arm to 90 degrees of forward flexion and passively adduct it maximally across the chest.
- Positive when
- Sharp, local pain on top of the AC joint.
- What the test is worth
- Reasonably sensitive for AC problems; pain deeper in the shoulder fits posterior structures better.
- Caution
- Ask the patient to point with one finger: in AC problems that is a point, in subacromial complaints an area.
- Body region
